Is it Healthy if War Inspires Art? Movies like the TOP GUN series, Mission Impossible, Television Series like 24 and Homeland have brought home the reality of war into our living rooms. Unfortunately, violence sells and it can be argued that our choice of premium violent entertainment is desensitizing us by robbing us on a subconscious level of the spirit of empathy. As the birds scamper to the safety of the skies amidst the massive explosion in the background, in reality, an untold number of lives are being lost before our eyes. But, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” and a creative in Hollywood may use the picture or similar video as a part of their mood board for use in the next high budget scene with a similar massive explosion. The antagonist gets to die a violent death or the hero in the movie is about to emerge from adversity

But how do people of invaded nations feel? They are often the victim of a one-sided story being told by people from outside of their country. Their story often gets lost in the noise or misconstrued in the noise of politics. But what does the director see on his mood board when this picture is added? He sees a story where a native militant gets turned into a double agent by a foreign spy with the promise of a better future for him and his family.

How does all of this affect the younger generation in our societies? It is as if the public is a product that is being sorted and curated and value is being extracted for mechanical gain. It can be argued that the value system of the younger generation is being eroded by the marketing of violence as entertainment .
