I LOVE ACCOUNTANT!! BOTH OF THESE FILMS ARE AMAZING TO WATCH! Especially with family.

The Accountant vs. The Accountant 2: Which Thriller Balances the Best?

When you hear a movie is about a corporate accountant, you expect spreadsheets, not sniper rifles. But Ben Affleck’s Christian Wolff rewrote the job description. With The Accountant (2016) and its blockbuster sequel, The Accountant 2, out now, the burning question for film fans is which movie offers more of a thrill?

The Accountant 1: Solo Audits and Sniper Rifles

The film gives us a slow-burning origin story. Christian Wolff is an autistic mathematician who uncooks the books for the world’s most dangerous criminal cartels. The plot kicks into high gear when he takes on a robotics company, uncovers a massive fraud conspiracy, and goes on the run to protect a fellow clerk, Anna Kendrick.

Building suspense throughout, the first movie is focused on mystery and tension. It’s a classic lone-wolf survival story where Christian relies on brutal, hyper-precise hand-to-hand combat and terrifyingly long-range sniper shots to eliminate threats. His epic fight scene is my favorite!

The Accountant 2: Double the Damage

In contrast to the first film’s solitary approach, the sequel completely changes the formula by turning up the volume. When financial investigators enlist Christian to solve a global assassination mystery, he has to team up with his estranged, hitman brother, Braxton, aka Jon Bernthal. Just seeing his brother punch this guy, and it was wild because he just fell over the balcony, in a matter of seconds.

If the first movie is a quiet puzzle, The Accountant 2 is an absolute explosive blast. It pivots into an action-buddy comedy with an expanded universe. Instead of Christian taking out guards in a quiet house, the sequel features the brothers operating as a lethal, cohesive unit, taking on a literal army at a Juarez compound to save a group of kidnapped children.

The Verdict: Which is More Thrilling?

While the first film is a tighter, smarter financial thriller, the crown for the thriller goes to The Accountant 2. For more thrilling films, BigScreens has your back.

By pairing Ben Affleck’s cold details with Jon Bernthal’s chaotic, heavy-hitting energy, the action sequences are doubled, the body count is higher, and the stakes are cranked to the max. The first movie taught us how Christian works, but the sequel lets him completely loose. Okay, so now, browse my visual collection, if you want!
